Beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend, Walter Edwin “Ed” Turpela passed away on July 25, 2010 in Salt Lake City. He was born in Tooele on February 7, 1947 to William Edwin and Flossie Russell Turpela. He lived his life in Tooele, attended school and had many friends. He married Florence Romano Hawk on June 29, 1990 in Tooele. He was an avid member of the Eagles for many years. Ed is survived by his wife Florence. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Bill Turpela in Grantsville; Darlene Perkins in Tooele; Gloria Johnson in Illinois; Blaine and Helen McNicol in Tooele; and John McNicol in Tooele; seven stepchildren Theresa (William) Bonner in Salt Lake City; Linda Hawk in Herriman; Diane Hawk in Tooele; John and Martha Hawk in Tooele; Michael and Jennifer Hawk in Nevada; Anthony and Jennifer Hawk in California; Sherry Hawk in Wyoming and a special daughter-in-law Pauline Hawk and family. Ed was blessed with sons Josh and Jeremy in Texas as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by both his parents William and Flossie; two brothers Eldon and George McNicol and step-son James Hawk. Special thanks to Arlington Hills Nursing Home where they gave him care for the last three years. There will be a memorial service held Wednesday, July 28 from 5-8 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge on 50 South 1st Street. There will be no funeral services due to his wishes. Instead of flowers, donations to help with funeral expenses will be appreciated.
